Yampa Valley Electric Association is seeking an experienced technology leader to oversee our IT and OT functions in Northwest Colorado.
The Role:
As Director of Technology Services, you'll be responsible for the strategic leadership of YVEA's technology infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure operations across both Information Technology and Operational Technology systems. You'll lead a team that delivers exceptional internal customer service while managing cybersecurity, network operations, automated metering, SCADA systems, and enterprise-wide technology platforms. You're comfortable translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, leading cross-functional projects, and staying ahead of emerging threats and opportunities in the technology landscape.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, Information Systems, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT/OT operations and network management - 5+ years of management experience with demonstrated success in team leadership and strategic planning- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and utility-specific systems (NISC experience preferred)
- Proven ability to manage budgets, negotiate with vendors, and lead complex technology projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and deliver solutions across all levels of the organization
- Provide strategic leadership for IT and OT operations, including network infrastructure, systems security, automated metering, SCADA networks, and enterprise platforms
- Oversee YVEA's Cyber Security Program, including policy development, threat monitoring, compliance audits, and risk mitigation
- Lead and develop the Technology Services team through coaching, performance management, and fostering a customer-service mindset
- Manage relationships with our Managed IT Service Provider and other technology vendors
- Develop and manage departmental budgets while planning for future organizational technology needs
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to develop comprehensive Technology Work Plans aligned with YVEA's mission
- Lead complex technology projects from conception through implementation, coordinating vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to keep YVEA competitive and innovative
