Brief Description
The Director of Quality is a strategic leader responsible for driving customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across the quality organization. This role leads initiatives in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous process improvements to uphold high-quality standards. A key focus is ensuring compliance with aerospace industry regulations and standards such as AS9100, while upholding our core values. The Director collaborates cross-functionally to embed quality throughout the product lifecycle, strengthens customer relationships through proactive quality management, and guides a team of quality professionals in delivering measurable improvements and maintaining robust quality systems.
Essential Functions
- Lead and oversee root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address customer complaints, quality issues, and operational challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and monitor process improvement initiatives that enhance product and service quality.
- Drive continuous improvement methodology (such as Six Sigma, Lean, or similar tools) within the quality organization.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting systems to track performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop overall Product Quality Plan, and Implement/maintain systems & processes with both internal and external suppliers to ensure product quality
- Facilitate training and development programs to promote quality awareness and best practices across teams.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate quality into all stages of product lifecycle.
- Will continue to manage and provide feedback and own the Quality Management System
- Manage and lead a team of quality professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Mandatory work experience in aerospace and AS9100 environment
- Proven experience (8+ years) in quality management, with leadership responsibility within a manufacturing or corporate environment.- Strong expertise in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working directly with customers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster teamwork.
- Knowledge of quality standards including ISO 9001 required
- Experienced with developing and achieving future state plans and leading others in change initiatives.
- Strong experience / acumen with Metrology, establishing measurement methods and standards ensuring accuracy
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience
- Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQE), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Experience with digital quality management systems
- Office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing environment
- This position requires limited travel
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years, engineering project leadership or supervisory experience.- Strong Microsoft Office and business systems knowledge
- Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQE), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- This position will be a member of the senior leadership team.
