Job Title: Director of Quality – Center-Led Manufacturing Operations

Location: Fort Mill, SC or working out of one of our manufacturing sites

Reports To: EVP of Operations

Department: Quality Assurance / Operations

Travel: 30–50%, depending on site needs

Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Quality to lead and unify quality assurance and control efforts across our multi-site manufacturing operations. This center-led role will drive enterprise-wide quality systems, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep manufacturing experience, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of implementing quality best practices in a distributed operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Lead a Center-Led Quality Strategy:

Design and execute a unified quality vision, policies, and objectives that align with corporate goals and regulatory requirements across all manufacturing sites.

Standardize Quality Systems and Practices:

Harmonize quality processes (e.g., CAPA, audits, document control, supplier quality) across all plants while accounting for site-specific needs.

Oversee Compliance and Certification Programs:

Ensure all facilities meet or exceed industry standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, FDA, or AS9100 as applicable.


Quality Performance Management:

Define and monitor key quality KPIs (e.g., First Pass Yield, NCRs, cost of poor quality) and lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead a matrixed team of site quality managers. Build talent, foster cross-functional collaboration, and establish clear roles and escalation paths.


Continuous Improvement:

Embed a culture of continuous improvement by integrating Lean Six Sigma methodologies, quality audits, and risk management tools (e.g., FMEA).

Customer and Supplier Engagement:

Serve as a key quality contact for major customers and suppliers. Manage quality-related customer complaints, audits, and scorecards.

Technology and Data Systems Integration:

Drive digital transformation of quality processes through QMS tools, data analytics, and real-time reporting systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Master’s preferred)
10+ years of experience in quality roles in manufacturing environments, including 5+ years in a senior or multi-site leadership position
In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, auditing practices, and industry certifications
Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies (certification preferred)
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and change management abilities across all levels of the organization


Preferred Experience:

Experience in regulated industries (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical device)
ERP/QMS integration and use of advanced quality analytics tools
Multi-cultural and international manufacturing exposure
