What you’ll do:
The Director of Quality and Commissioning is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and commissioning processes across utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role leads the development and enforcement of quality standards, oversees pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, and works cross-functionally to ensure that all projects meet performance, safety, and compliance benchmarks from pre-construction through commercial operation.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
•Oversee quality audits and inspections at various stages of project development including procurement, construction, and installation.
•Collaborate with EPC partners and subcontractors to align quality standards and expectations.
•Track non-conformance issues and corrective actions, ensuring closure and continuous improvement.
•Responsible for tracking key business performance metrics for QA/QC, ability to apply efficiency metrics as well as implementing tactics to continuously advance the division's performance.
•Work cross functionally to ensure that the QA/QC division effectively supports our customer promise across the enterprise.
•Manage a team of in-office and onsite technicians working in QA/QC
Commissioning
•Define and manage the full commissioning strategy for utility-scale solar PV plants, including mechanical completion, functional testing, performance testing, and handover to operations.
•Develop and monitor a robust Commissioning program, including the ability to leverage subcontractor performed Commissioning of large-scale renewable sites
•Lead the commissioning team and coordinate with engineering, construction, and O&M teams.
•Ensure all commissioning activities comply with regulatory, contractual, and safety requirements.
•Validate system performance metrics and energy production forecasts using SCADA and performance monitoring platforms.
Leadership & Strategy
•Support and maintain a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, trust and customer focus.
•Collaborate with Engineering and Procurement Leads to determine preferred project vendors, materials and construction methods based on previous project data. Review design plans to confirm they achieve customer and contract requirements.
•Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE, NETA, NFPA), and regulatory requirements.
•Develop and maintain documentation, including commissioning plans, checklists, QA/QC reports, and punch lists.
•Provide regular updates to executive leadership on QA/QC and commissioning status, KPIs, and performance outcomes.
•Participate in the contracting process to ensure all required Quality and Commissioning scope is captured and aligned with Owner/Prime agreements
•Comply with all Company policies and procedures as set forth in an Employee Handbook or otherwise published by Company from time to time
•Comply with the terms of the Employee Confidentiality, Non-Compete, And Invention Assignment Agreement executed by Employee.
What you'll bring:
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related field is preferred
•Minimum 10 years of experience in utility-scale solar project execution, with at least 5 years in a QA/QC or commissioning leadership role.
•Extensive knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, tracker systems and electrical componentry
•Understanding of QA/QC and Commissioning methods, standards and quality process management
•Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
•Ability to determine work priorities and review work for quality and production standards
•Must be highly motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work both with a team and independently
•Must excel in customer service and data analysis
•Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
•Must excel with multi-tasking, problem-solving, written, and communication skills
•Maintain a valid Drivers License and a good driving record
