Expected salary range of $131,400 to $146,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose Of Position
The Principal Quality Engineering Lead serves as a strategic technical leader responsible for setting the quality vision and roadmap across the organization. This position requires extensive experience in quality engineering leadership, deep technical expertise, and the ability to drive organization-wide quality initiatives which significantly impact product excellence and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate quality practices into sprints and project deliverables.
Primary Duties And Accountabilities•Define and evolve the organization's quality engineering strategy, standards, and practices to meet business goals and technical challenges, ensuring alignment with emerging technologies and architectural patterns.
•Lead multiple quality engineering teams across product lines, providing technical direction, mentorship, and development opportunities to senior quality engineers.
•Partner with executive leadership to establish quality as a competitive advantage and key business metric, while driving cross-functional quality initiatives across departments.
•Design and implement innovative quality solutions and governance models for large-scale systems, including risk management strategies and quality frameworks that support efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
•Drive continuous improvement in quality processes, tools, and metrics across the full software development lifecycle, including Agile practices and post-release transitions.
•Establish and maintain comprehensive quality metrics and transparency, ensuring quality is measured throughout all project and software lifecycle phases�from planning through deployment and operational support.
•Establish and manage quality education programs to elevate technical capabilities across the organization.
•Conduct quality health assessments to ensure projects meet established standards, and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
•Represent the quality engineering function externally, including technical due diligence for acquisitions or partnerships, as well as participation in industry forums and with customers or vendors.
•Contribute to the CBS Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) by shaping best practices and driving ongoing adoption, inspection, and improvement of quality standards across the organization.
•Travel required as necessary to meet business needs
•In-person attendance for training, all-hands meetings, and other meaningful engagements
Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
•8-years of experience in software quality engineering
•2-years of leadership, management, and/or project management experience
•Demonstrated success leading organization-wide quality initiatives and transformations, with a record of collaboration with executive leadership on strategic quality efforts
•Deep expertise in modern quality engineering practices, frameworks, and technologies
•Strong technical background with hands-on experience in system architecture and design
•Proven experience establishing and scaling quality processes in complex, enterprise environments
•Advanced knowledge of quality metrics, risk assessment methods, and statistical analysis
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills
•Experience mentoring and developing quality engineering staff and leaders
•Experience with building and managing vendor relationships and performance
Preferred Qualifications
•Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
•Advanced quality engineering certifications or industry recognition
•Experience with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, IoT, or distributed systems.
•Experience leading quality for regulated industries or mission-critical systems
•Contributions to open-source projects or quality standards development
•Experience with digital transformation and quality modernization initiatives
