MPS is seeking a talented Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will lead all aspects of the Stockton manufacturing plant, ensuring operational excellence, a strong culture of safety, and consistent delivery of high-quality products. This role is accountable for achieving business objectives by applying the 80/20 principle—focusing resources on the most impactful customers, products, and processes—while driving continuous improvement across the plant.
This role is based in our Stockton, CA, plant.
What You’ll Do
- Safety Leadership:
- Champion a zero-injury culture by ensuring safety is the first priority in all plant activities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Drive proactive safety initiatives, training, and risk reduction.
- Operational Management:
- Lead daily plant operations including production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain functions.
- Implement and sustain lean manufacturing practices with an emphasis on 80/20 decision-making.
- Drive throughput, efficiency, and on-time delivery while reducing waste and variation.
- People Leadership:
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team focused on accountability, engagement, and results.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safety-first culture.
- Partner with HR to ensure workforce stability, training, and succession planning.
- Business Performance:
- Achieve plant financial targets including productivity, cost control, and profitability.
- Develop and manage plant budgets and capital expenditures.
- Monitor KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people) and execute corrective actions.
- Customer & Quality Focus:
- Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded for every product shipped.
- Apply 80/20 analysis to prioritize top customers and critical products for maximum impact.
- Drive customer satisfaction through reliability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Need to Excel in This Role
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, with at least 5 years in plant or operations management.- Proven record of leading in a safety-focused environment with measurable improvements.
- Experience applying the 80/20 principle in manufacturing or business decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cost reduction strategies.
