About This Role

Power Engineering Services is looking for a

Director of Operations

to oversee operational functions, optimize workflows, ensure safety and quality, and help drive growth. This role reports to executive leadership and will be based in Houston, TX with frequent travel to project and field locations.

What You'll Do

- Lead all operational units including field services, lab operations (PPE), breaker shop, cable services, and engineering support.

- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to enhance efficiency, capacity, and profitability.

- Establish and monitor KPI’s—such as quality, turnaround time, safety, and cost metrics—to ensure excellence.

- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and operational cost control.

- Coordinate with business development, engineering, client services, and finance to align operations with customer demands and company goals.

- Ensure consistent compliance with safety policies, relevant industry standards, and internal quality protocols.

- Mentor, develop, and manage operations leadership; foster a culture of continuous improvement.

- Optimize resource allocation (personnel, equipment, materials) across multiple sites.

- Drive operational risk assessments and mitigation plans to maintain reliability in deliverables.

- Lead initiatives to improve operational scalability, including process standardization and technology adoption.

What You'll Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical/management field; advanced degree preferred.

- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in electrical testing, engineering service providers, or similar technical services environments.

- Strong understanding of electrical testing labs, field deployment logistics, breaker/cable shop operations, or PPE/testing lab workflows.

- Excellent business acumen: budgeting, forecasting, P&L accountability, cost control.

- Proficiency with data analytics, dashboards, and performance metrics tracking.

- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams, manage through change, and scale operations.

- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance in electrical testing environments.

- Excellent communication skills—both internal (teams, senior leadership) and external (clients/vendors).

- Experience implementing process improvements, technology tools, or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma), preferred.

- Willingness to travel nationally as required to visit labs, client sites, and field operations.
