Job Description

Vitol’s Tax team is a group of high-performing professionals who deliver value beyond traditional tax roles. In addition to managing federal, state, and international tax compliance for North American entities, the team provides expert tax advice to management, commercial, investment, and other teams. The Direct Tax team oversees all tax aspects of Vitol’s trading, renewable assets, and service companies, offering exposure to core trading, upstream, and renewables businesses, as well as deal and investment transactions. Regularly consulted by Senior Management, the team delivers critical tax analysis and insights for key decision-making. Vitol’s Tax organization offers a dynamic environment focused on growth, learning, and career development.

Responsibilities may include:

- Support investment and deal teams in acquisitions and sales

- Review federal, state, and local income/franchise tax returns and estimated/extension payments

- Review quarterly income tax accruals, reconciliations, deferred tax items, and provision reporting

- Gather and analyze data from general ledger and trading systems

- Manage federal and state tax audits and jurisdictional notices

- Identify tax savings and support tax planning

- Perform other duties as assigned (subject to change)

Qualifications

- 8 or more years of federal/state income tax experience with equivalent federal/state corporate tax (including consolidations) compliance and accrual (ASC 740 / IAS 12) experience in business or industry

- Experience in managing a team in a multinational corporation

- Advanced Excel skills

- CPA license is preferred

- Experience with OneSource Income Tax is preferred

- Exposure to partnership tax is preferred

- Working knowledge of tax implications related to Renewable Energy projects and transactions
