Digital Channel Specialist is responsible for day-to-day catalog management and product content across a wide array of merchandise. The Digital Channel Specialist is also responsible for the product criteria and standards for our e-commerce websites. The products range across three core markets of Construction, Industrial and Utility with further subcategories supporting each market. The Channel Specialist will focus on developing standards that would best meet customer expectation and focus on improving overall customer experience through our digital channels. The Digital Channel Specialist will work with market and category management to develop and implement product merchandising strategies.
- Focuses on search optimization, configuration and customer experience
- Takes on role of digital subject matter experts for core market/category and personalize content and product metadata to best meet customer expectations.
- Reviews web page design, content, and functionality for clarity, consistency, and ease of use.
- Manages messaging for product, category, and home pages of the websites
- Obtains high resolution stock images or physical samples of products from vendors for photography
- Submits error and new features tickets to the Development team and follows up accordingly
- Keeps up to date with digital and eCommerce trends and brings up new initiatives to move business forward
- Works with market, category, operations, IT, and communications to offer product solutions and promotions to promote a great customer experience
- Uses market research and customer insights to define critical data and optimize data and metadata to meet customer expectations and improve overall customer experience.
- Uses Google Analytics to pull reports regarding sales and growth opportunity within ecommerce
- Provides product merchandising insights on borderstates.com to create a better customer experience.
- Analyzes customer interaction on web to create optimized category, landing, and homepage designs on all platforms.
- Collaborates with market and product managers to develop promotional efforts, share of wallet type content, search optimization, configurations, working with manipulating data to improve the CX
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop data definitions, technical data standards, business rules, and attribute/metadata schema for parent/children relationships
- Governs products changes through workflow using Stibo STEP Product Information Management (PIM).
- Approves and rejects changes to data and taxonomy schema using workflow tools.
- Optimizes workflow bases on category of products to meet specific customer and business needs.
- Manages product metadata and product relationships within the PIM systems to ensure it is easily discoverable and meaningful to supporting sales tools and channels.
- Manages inbound data and mapping from vendor and industry product data feeds.
- Manages PIM product lifecycle and how it relates to the customer experience in the digital sales channels.
- Aligns process to ERP product lifecycle.
- Supports adoption of workflow across departments and integrating to current material create process.
- Manage custom content and features to meet needs of alliance customers
- Assists in improving internal and external keyword search relevancy.
- Provides oversite of catalog production in open market and customer focused catalog development. Creation and maintenance of catalogs will be managed in-house and through third party catalog production partners
- Provide support to for campaign and promotion of material for strategic vendors
- Assists in market research and analyze customer behavior to recommend improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
- A four-year business, computer or technical degree required.
- 2+ years’ experience in a marketing, merchandising or analytical role, preferably in a wholesale distribution environment.- High proficiency in MS Office tools, primarily Excel with PIM experience preferred.
- Experience with ecommerce systems preferred
- Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive, and engaged.
- Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills.
- Project management skills, including planning, resourcing, execution.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize multiple competing workstreams
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
