Derrickhand experience on a drill rig will have preference in the role.
Job Summary:
This position is under the direction of the driller and responsible for the safe and smooth operation of the top end of the drilling Rig. This role will guide the drill stem activity of hoisting and lowering accurately into designated hole. Responsible for the conditioning of the drilling fluid and the circulating machinery.
The next site will be located in Imlay, NV and will transition to various locations thereafter.
Essential Functions:

•Checks and maintains all mud equipment and properties of mud system up to and including the upkeep of cleanliness and organization
•Controls mud properties and volume in consultation with Mud Engineer and Driller. Reports any unusual change in mud level or properties
•Ensures maintenance compliance and operation of the mud pump(s) on the rig
•Maintains parts inventory as well as mud materials
•Responsible for all drill pipe, collars, and casing
•Provides supervision of floor hand, providing instructions, training, and safety practice
•Informs relief shift of all necessary information for seamless transfer
•Works with the Rig Manager and Driller to ensure compliance with Safety rules by all rig crew members
•Participates in all safety programs, processes, and requirements
•Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
•Responsible for immediate reporting of all accidents and incidents
•Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Must possess well control certificate or ability to obtain well control certificate immediately upon employment
•Knowledge of a drill rig operations
•Knowledge of and compliance with OHSA safety procedures and protocol
•Ability to work as team and share knowledge of other rig positions
•Understanding of volume and characteristics of rig mud system
•Ability to think quickly and respond to changing situations
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Possess a valid state issued driver’s license
Education and Experience:
•Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
•Minimum Two (2) years’ experience on a drill rig
•Minimum Six (6) months’ experience as a Derrick Hand
Preferred Education and Experience:
•Two (2) years+ of Geothermal drilling experience
Physical Requirements:
•Climb, work at elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways frequently
•Stand for long periods of time consistently
•Stoop, bend or kneel frequently
•Work in all weather conditions
•Lift to up to 50lbs consistently
•Must traverse areas of construction sites consistently
•Must travel to various locations occasionally
•Must operate a company vehicle frequently
•Must endure continuous vibrations and elevated noise levels consistently
•Must wear all required PPE equipment consistently
