Role Overview

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Data Solution Owner is accountable for developing and driving the product vision and strategy, leading a cross functional team to deliver on time and on budget, and ensure value is measured.

They will provide regular feedback to the team and assist them in following the vision. Their biggest challenge is to make certain the team understands in detail what they are encouraged to build.

The Data Solution Owner needs to develop a strong grasp of the target market and industry, establish close relationships with important customers at mining sites and corporate offices, and define the business strategy for the product.

Responsibilities

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

- Scope Management: Define and manage the project scope. Plan and implement updates to an array of specialized Mine Engineering systems

- Prioritization: Prioritize tasks and features to align with project goals

- Backlog Management: Manage the backlog and user stories

- Requirements Analysis: Translate business needs into detailed requirements, including functional, non-functional, and data specifications.

- Roadmap Reporting: Report on the product roadmap to collaborators.

- Accountability: Be accountable to the Manager, Delivery and Steering Committee

- Solution Assurance: Confirm the solution aligns with business requirements

- Budget Ownership: Manage and own the project budget.

- Team Performance: Ensure a high functioning and performant team by establishing ways of working and team standards.

- Consistency: Maintain involvement with the product/solution despite changes in technical resources.

- Site Relationship: Own the relationship with the site alongside the Subject Matter Expert (SME) during product build.

- Implementation Support: Guarantee the solution is effectively established and assisted by other teams.

Qualifications

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Certification as a Scrum Product Owner and or Scrum Master, or equivalent knowledge/experience is an asset

- At least 5 years of experience in a Solution or Product Owner role, including knowledge in all aspects of Product Backlog Management and Product Owners

- Deep knowledge of Data/Data Bricks and Azure

- Solid knowledge of industry trends, user demands, and difficulties, to be able to build a high value product vision

- Confident enough with technology to participate in conversations with the tech team and grasp potential risks

- Experience in Agile Development, with specific Product Owner (or similar) experience preferred, should be confident in managing a backlog

- Understanding of development, testing and implementation practices and what goes into crafting quality software

- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex messages and tradeoffs

- Ability to work as a translator between site collaborators and the product team

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships with, and influence, a diverse group of collaborators

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to guide a team toward a solution and advancement

- Passion to challenge status quo, to find new solutions, and drive out of the box ideas

- Not afraid to go outside of their comfort zone to learn

- Experimental approach to drive innovation

- Mining industry experience would be an asset

- Ability to travel to our sites where occasionally required

Pay Range: CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
