About This Job

The Kinsley Group is seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist II to join our team. This role is critical in establishing robust data governance practices and laying the groundwork for leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data structures, data quality, and reporting, and will be passionate about building scalable and usable data solutions that enable advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions, recommendations, and insights.


Key Responsibilities


Data Architecture & Governance

- Design, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all data sources.

- Develop and optimize data structures and pipelines to support high-quality reporting and analytics.

- Evaluate and improve the usability and accessibility of data for business and technical stakeholders.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data governance via data standards, policies, and best practices that enable future AI initiatives.

- Monitor and enhance the quality and accuracy of data outputs, proactively identifying and resolving issues.

- Develop documentation and training materials to support data literacy and governance across the organization.

- Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to a variety of stakeholders.

- Manages initiatives efficiently, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project scope and objectives.


AI Foundational Solutions & Recommendations

A key responsibility of this position is understanding essential workflows, decision-making processes, and pain points within business operations to identify targeted opportunities where AI can deliver meaningful value to both internal stakeholders and external clients. This includes recommending and implementing AI solutions—such as automating routine tasks for internal teams or enhancing customer support experiences for clients—that are central to driving operational efficiency and elevating the overall customer experience.

- Stay current with industry trends in data management, governance, and AI technologies.

- Work with operational teams to investigate integrating smart sensors, SCADA, ComApp, and IoT data from power generation and distribution assets into a central AI data ready platform.

- Capture and analyze energy consumption for AI solutions around production, and performance data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and predictive maintenance.

- Collaborate with teams to potentially develop AI-driven solutions for outage prediction, asset health monitoring, and demand response programs.

- Assist in data integration and quality assurance via AI for potential smart meter, distributed energy resource, and customer analytics projects.

- Skilled in designing and building voice and chatbot’s to support our workforce.


Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

- 2+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or analytics roles.

- Strong knowledge of data governance principles, data architecture, and best practices.

- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, data modeling, and ETL processes.

- Strong proficiency with SQL and data management platforms (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure).

- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python and/or R.

- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI & Microsoft Fabric).

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams to build and maintain strong relationships.

- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve common goals.

- Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts is a plus.

- Shows creativity and innovation in problem-solving while understanding the necessary steps and planning to achieve results with artificial intelligence solutions.

- Possesses the ability to plan and execute strategies effectively to meet project goals and deadlines.

- Adapts to changing environments and requirements, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
