We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Customs Compliance Analyst to join our Trade Compliance team. This remote position is responsible for ensuring our company’s import and export activities comply with all applicable U.S. and international customs laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with U.S. Customs (CBP) procedures, HTS classification, and import documentation, and will proactively support cross-functional teams to maintain compliance across the global supply chain. Key Responsibilities:
- Review, classify, and validate imported products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and country-specific codes.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations (e.g., 19 CFR), Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA), and Partner Government Agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA).
- Maintain accurate records of import/export documentation in accordance with CBP’s recordkeeping requirements.
- Monitor and update the company’s import database, including tariff codes, country of origin, and product descriptions.
- Support the creation and maintenance of internal compliance policies, SOPs, and training materials.
- Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments (e.g., supply chain, procurement, legal) to resolve customs issues and ensure smooth import operations.
- Conduct internal audits of customs entries and documents; assist in responding to CBP inquiries, CF28s/CF29s, or post-entry amendments.
- Track regulatory changes and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance best practices.
- Identify opportunities to optimize duty savings programs (e.g., duty drawback, FTZ, First Sale for Export, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in customs compliance, import operations, or global trade.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and country of origin rules.
- Familiarity with ACE, AES, and other U.S. Customs systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP or trade compliance software (e.g., SAP GTS, Amber Road, Descartes).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities.
