Description
Valero is looking for a Credit Specialist to join the team to support Valero’s Mexico operations from the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio, TX. The Credit Specialist evaluates financial statements and analyzes credit risk for the purpose of recommending and reviewing customer credit limits. Responsibilities may include:
•Monitors credit exposure daily, exercising independent judgment to make appropriate business decisions with customers who exceed their credit limits, cease operations, or who are involved in litigation or bankruptcy.
•Reviews A/R daily to ensure timely collection of receivables.
•Analyzes and reconciles customer accounts, and independently resolves complex customer issues related to credit and payments.
•Analyzes financial statements and notes to financial statements, credit reports such as Dun & Bradstreet, Standard & Poor’s or Moody’s, and other credit related information to minimize credit risk and maximize sales
•Prepares reports to recommend credit limits
•Prepares various reports, such as Past Due Receivable Reports, Customer Exposure Reports, and Supplier Exposure Reports
•Reviews purchase contracts and prepares payment undertakings as needed
•Evaluates and compares certain industry indicators, such as bankruptcy predictors, liquidity, profitability, debt levels, cash flow, quality of management, and collateral appraisal with other companies of same industry, size, and geographic location
•Coordinates and reviews incoming bank letters of credit
•Prepares and executes agreements to waive security
•Coordinates and reviews incoming personal and corporate guarantees.
•Resolves complex customer issues related to credit and payments
•Supports Marketing by providing credit and customer account information as requested
•Confers with representatives of other businesses or banks to exchange information concerning credit
•Assists Audit and Legal departments as needed to handle customer and credit issues
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
•Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
•5+ years of accounting, finance, or related experience is required.
•Bilingual written and oral language skills in Spanish and English, required.
•Experience with financial evaluation and credit risk analysis within the refining industry preferred.
•Able and willing to work in-person at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio, TX required.
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
