Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Safety and Health Supervisor at our Cortez operations. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and direction of the Safety & Health Superintendent to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and solve S&H problems or issues. Coach, teach, mentor, and support personnel holding subordinates accountable for all expectations and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide goals, behavioral and role expectations for senior coordinators
- Measure, report, and review senior safety coordinators performance against expectations and roles/ responsibilities
- Coach, teach, mentor, and support Senior and divisional safety coordinators to succession and in safety processes and plans
- Hold subordinates accountable for all expectations and roles/ responsibilities
- Provide discipline when warranted
- Monthly to quarterly overview/ focus and responsibility of S&H functions and activities
- Assist in incident investigations when applicable or requested
- Assist and be a resource with TapRoot analysis when applicable or requested
- Review Flash and Investigation Summary reports prior to providing to S&H Superintendent
- Support and improve Emergency Response Preparedness Systems and surface and underground ERT teams
- Develop and implement strategies to control risk and hazards in the workplace
- Review and assist with divisional policy/procedure/JHA development
- Assist in identifying divisional training needs when applicable and/or requested
- Actively participate with internal safety inspections/audits
- Participate with divisional management/supervision during MSHA/State inspections
- Provide technical support and direction to divisional management
- Promote and assist as needed with IH activities and initiatives
- Assist in Formal and High Level Risk Assessments
- Provide in-field Safety & Health coaching to all employees
- Actively participate in divisional toolbox training sessions/safety meetings/ supervisor training
- Assist and instruct MSHA topics with new hires, ART and Contractor hazard Training as required
- Audit divisional contractor control reps per audit protocols
- Responsible for internal and external compliance, per BSS (Barrick Safety System) and CFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
- Support, lead, and facilitate Courageous Leadership Training
- Assist in meeting annual budget by scrutinizing expenditures
- Achieve at minimum 40% Visual Felt Safety Leadership throughout division/site
- Ensure field time is in conjunction with divisional/departmental General Supervisor contact
- Ensure audits of investigation corrective actions are completed and in a timely manner
- Teach, coach, mentor and act as a resource for hourly safety teams
- Be on-call to respond to incidents and injuries occurring at any hour
- Provide on-call coverage as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- 10 years of experience in industry with proven/demonstrated Leadership in S&H or,
- 8 years of S&H experience or,
- 10 years industry experience and an Associate’s degree in S&H or related field or,
- 8 years of S&H experience with a Bachelor’s degree in S&H or related field
- CSP/CIH (Certified Safety Professional/Certified Industrial Hygienist)
- CMSP (Certified Mine Safety Professional)
