Job Profile Summary

This position executes the external, internal, and atmospheric corrosion control program and is responsible for the internal as well as external integrity of the pipeline. The corrosion control professional is expected to be responsible for all facets of field executed corrosion duties, as well as assisting in the pre-construction design processes to mitigate foreseen corrosion problem areas and maintain all corrosion control records for company use in addition to Regulatory agency audits


Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Identify and monitor the factors that cause internal corrosion.
Perform minor maintenance and repair of rectifiers and maintain cathodic protection test stations.
Identify and monitor potential areas of both AC & DC interference and perform stray current interference tests.
Conduct and interpret ground bed design surveys, line surveys, surface potential and pipe to soil surveys.
Maintain external and internal corrosion control data on pipeline system.
Operate corrosion database software and data collection equipment.
Perform soil resistivity testing.
Measure efficiency of installed units by testing protected pipelines and current sources.
Monitor internal corrosion and inhibitor feed rates; clean, weigh and calculate corrosion rates from coupons.
Competent understanding and knowledge of electrical, including AC/DC electrochemical theory
Install and maintain cathodic protection equipment (Rectifiers, Solar powered Rectifiers)
Conduct CP Annual Surveys and interpret collected data.
Develop and implement corrosion control plan in accordance with collected survey data.
Test, adjust, maintain, and repair existing cathodic protection equipment and testing facilities.
Maintain all Corrosion control records.
Assist in the design and installation of new cathodic protection equipment and facilities.
Aid and assist The EnLink Pipeline Integrity Group in dent assessment and pipeline incidents, as well as conducting and managing Close Interval Surveys, ACVG, and DCVG surveys.
Train and assist Company personnel in corrosion related matters.
Possess competent knowledge of all aspects of corrosion control, its mechanisms, and mitigation.


Education

High school diploma or GED, required.


Work Experience

5+ years of corrosion related experience is preferred.
Adept at conducting detailed analysis of corrosion data and capable of resolving complex issues with minimal assistance.
Working knowledge of American Innovations PCS is a plus.
Experience in use, function, maintenance, and repair of cathodic protection tools and equipment
Experience reading and interpreting maps, drawings, procedures, survey results, plats, atlas pages, rectifier reports, and applicable operation and repair manuals
Training, experience and/or ability related to: company and governmental operating/safety procedures, construction and maintenance activities, locating lines, One-Call System policies and procedure


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of: facility/system operations
Knowledge of: pipe coating, basic chemistry, electronics, and metallurgy
Ability to proficiently utilize corrosion control equipment including, but not limited to, multi-meter, reference electrodes, current interrupter, pipe locator, data logger, soil resistivity box, and pipe line current mapper.
Adept at conducting detailed analysis of corrosion data and capable of resolving complex issues with minimal assistance.
Ability to: apply basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Ability to: communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions
Ability to: work in confined areas and elevated surfaces
Ability to: react immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others
Ability to: to operate tools and equipment
Ability to: drive for extended periods


Licenses and Certifications

NACE Cathodic Protection Certification/Corrosion Certification Level 1 REQUIRED (CP Level 2 is preferred)
