About the role:
Reporting to the Lead Reclamation, Vegetation, the Vegetation Coordinator is responsible for the planning and development of vegetation programs at the five operations in the Elk Valley. These projects include seedling production, planting, seeding, reclamation monitoring, and invasive plant management.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to build relationships across all levels of multidisciplinary teams. Someone with strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must have a strong foundational understanding of plant ecology and ecosystem successional pathways, with an emphasis on their practical application in restoration operations. Strong data management and critical thinking skills will be essential in this role.

- Coordinate production of planting stock for vegetation programs
- Coordinate the logistics and delivery of vegetation materials to mines in preparation for operational planting
- Support scope development and planning for vegetation projects in accordance with broader reclamation plans or targets
- Support contractor management to ensure work is conducted safely and in accordance with the project scope including Safety and Environmental Protection Work Plans
- Coordinate execution of the reclamation monitoring program to determine the success of reclamation practices
- Support management of project budgets to ensure completion of reclamation objectives
- Support the development of technical guidance documents relating to vegetation programs
- Work closely with each of our operations (including Mine Safety, Environment and Operations teams) to execute reclamation vegetation programs to fulfill regulatory and permit requirements, production targets, and priorities that meet site needs
- Assist with annual reporting requirements following the completion of field programs
- General work breakdown is 85% in office work and 15% field work
- Science or natural resource management degree or diploma in an environmental related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years relevant experience in reclamation, vegetation, ecology, soils, and project management, preferably in an industrial environment
- Foundational understanding of provincial and federal legislation and regulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic field and office environments
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Proficiency with GIS software and spatial data management is required
- Contractor supervision experience is considered a strong asset
- Experience working with JRP Plant Wizard or EQuIS is considered an asset
- Experience working with First Nations, regulatory agencies, and local communities is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
