About the role:

Reporting to the Lead, Fish Monitoring, the Coordinator, Fish is responsible for supporting the safe and effective implementation of fish population programs for the Coal Business Unit, including support for our Elk Valley site-specific major (operational) permitting applications. The Coordinator, Fish is responsible for assisting with the planning and direct supervision of field activities related to fish population programs, fish movement studies and other fish-related projects. The Coordinator, Fish will also be responsible for ensuring fish programs adhere to EVR’s safety and environmental standards.

In this role you will:

- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies

- Responsible for scheduling and planning resources required to successfully support fish population programs including spawning, snorkeling and electrofishing surveys, fish movement, and other projects as assigned

- Supervise and direct teams of Contractors and Consultants working on programs to ensure scopes, schedules and budgets are adhered to while maintaining compliance with applicable safety and environmental standards

- Conduct contractor management duties to ensure a safe and efficient approach to carrying out projects at all operations and off Mine Site at regional locations

- Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records of budget, accruals, invoicing and other cost tracking duties as assigned

- Responsible for maintaining and updating contractor performance records and providing input to regular contractor and consultant review process

- Identify areas for innovation to ensure continuous improvement of safety and programs

Requirements:

- Minimum three years of experience in technical field programs and project management in the natural resource sector, preferably in mining

- Science or Engineering degree/diploma in environmental-related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered

- Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in the fisheries discipline, field monitoring and sampling programs, and remote / resource extraction work areas

- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various groups to efficiently execute field programs in a variety of weather/seasonal settings

- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
