About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Reporting to the Lead Advisor, Operational HR, the Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to increase employee engagement and satisfaction across all areas of our operation.
We are looking for an individual who has a passion for fostering positive relationships between employees and the organization. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to actively uphold Teck’s company values and behaviours, guarantee adherence to employee policies, and creatively develop new initiatives to keep employees engaged and excited about their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of initiatives, activities and programs that promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with employees by ensuring a sense of confidentiality, mutual trust, concern, respect, and teamwork.
- Conduct regular “walkthroughs” to maintain visibility, engage with employees, and proactively address any concerns.
- Provide strategic insights and make recommendations on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen employee engagement and morale.
- Participate in the investigation process for employee complaints, grievances, and workplace conflicts.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with employees to address concerns, offer support, and facilitate fair and prompt resolutions.
- Partner with the HR team on matters related to employee discipline, grievance handling, and associated administrative processes.
- Support the development and enhancement of HR policies and procedures related to employee conduct, workplace behaviour, and conflict resolution.
- Assist in the delivery of training sessions that are focused on the various aspects of human resources and employee relations.
- Successfully complete all other duties and assigned projects.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Confident communicator at all levels of organization including listening, writing, and presenting.
- Relationship Management Skills: Ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships with individuals and groups of employees.
- Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to identify and resolve workplace issues in a fair and timely manner.
- Excellent Organization Skills: Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands.
- Investigation and Documentation Skills: Ability to conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, and document findings.
- Ability to Maintain Confidentiality: Manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management, or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience performing a similar role, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.- Previous experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of employment rules and regulations, along with HR best practices.
- Solid working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
- A professional human resources certification (i.e., CPHR), or working towards one, is an asset.

Pay Range:
CAD $83,000 - $103,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity. Working Conditions
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
