Millwright - Conveyor Technician
The Millwright safely installs, maintains, troubleshoots, overhauls and repairs stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the mine and milling operation. The Millwrights work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Safely installs, maintains, troubleshoots, overhauls and repairs stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the mine and milling operation.
- Install, align, and maintain conveyor systems and related components, including pulleys, idlers, drives, and belt assemblies.
- Perform belt splicing and vulcanizing (hot and cold methods), mechanical splices, and pulley lagging.
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on conveyors and associated equipment.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance, including lubrication, wear liner replacement, and belt tensioning.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices (overhead cranes, jacks, telehandlers) for equipment positioning and repairs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to execute work procedures accurately.
- Troubleshoot and repair power transmission systems, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Utilize CMMS software to create work orders, log maintenance activities, and track parts usage.
- Perform safety inspections, lockout/tagout procedures, and ensure compliance with MSHA/OSHA standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.

Area 3
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Be a visible leader in health and safety by sharing your knowledge and experiences with all workers.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements And Nice To Havesminimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- College diploma in industrial mechanic (millwright) or another related field.
- Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Industrial Mechanic Millwright License is preferred.
- Apprentices may be considered in accordance with business and legislative requirements.
- CWB all position welding certification considered an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in belt splicing, vulcanizing techniques, and conveyor alignment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and teamwork.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
