Location: New Jersey Company: Eton Controls – Full Turnkey Control Valve Provider
Eton Controls is seeking a skilled Millwright to support the manufacturing, repair, disassembly, and installation of industrial control valves used in power generation facilities. This position involves hands-on mechanical work in both our shop and on-site during outages, including valve repacking, actuator calibration, and assisting with full valve refurbishment.
- Install, remove, and service control valves and associated equipment for major OEMs (Fisher, CCI, Valtek, Masoneilan, etc.).
- Disassemble and reassemble valve internals, including plugs, stems, cages, seat rings, bonnets, actuators, disk stacks, and trim components.
- Repack valve bodies, including proper selection, installation, and adjustment of packing materials to ensure sealing integrity.
- Calibrate pneumatic and hydraulic actuators to ensure correct travel, seating force, and response per OEM specifications.
- Perform precision mechanical work using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, torque devices, and other measurement instruments.
- Assist with on-site outages: removing valves from service, documenting condition, tagging components, and preparing them for transport.
- Remove and install additional equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, and mechanical assemblies as required.
- Follow all plant safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and confined-space procedures.
- Operate forklifts, hoists, rigging, and shop equipment safely.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workspace.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and the field-service team about job progress and findings.
- Perform general shop duties during non-outage periods.- 3+ years of millwright, mechanical, valve, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience repacking valves, rebuilding actuators, or calibrating valve controls is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with power plant, refinery, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, prints, and work instructions.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, rigging, and industrial tools.
- Willing and able to travel for outages
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended shifts during outage seasons.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass standard site safety clearances.- Lift 50+ lbs.
- Stand, bend, climb, and work in tight or elevated spaces.
- Tolerance for heat, noise, and industrial environments.
