We are currently looking for a
Contractor Coordinatorto join the Distribution Capital Execution team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Distribution Capital Execution you will share the overall accountability for distribution contractors working to increase reliability and expand the energy delivery system.
This role involves facilitating effective communication between the Contractors, Energy Delivery Scheduling, Regional Operations, and Billing / Receiving. You will be responsible for monitoring performance, creating processes to review and confirm invoicing, and escalating business issues or risks to the appropriate team member for timely resolution. This position will also be a key stakeholder in the Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) helping to provide the training, support, and facilitate the compliance checks completed by the team as required to ensure everyone goes home safe. You will be part of the standby response team when unplanned events compromise the system. This could include being assigned to a standby rotation.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
- Lead contractor liaison for groups under your responsibility.
- Support alignment with corporate/regulatory compliance and governance. Especially the Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) and the EMS (Environmental Management System).
- In collaboration with the Energy Delivery team and the Procurement Department, develop contracting strategy and administer contracts. Understand NS Power’s Procurement/Legal policy, procedures and practices to provide guidance. Participate in negotiations.
- Develop, maintain, and prepare key metrics and reports for stakeholders on performance. Monitor deliverables against contracts/purchase orders, etc.
- Review and analyzing contractor invoicing in collaboration with the team. Ensure compliance with service contracts. Approve invoices or escalate deficiencies for addressing.
These Skills Will Make You Successful
As the successful candidate you have:
- A college/technical diploma or University degree from an accredited post-secondary institute.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion would be an asset.
- A recognized project management certification or equivalent experience would also be considered an asset.
- Experience working for an electric utility or utility services contractor would also be an asset.
This role will have a local administrative focus but some travel and field site visits will also be expected. A valid Nova Scotia driver’s license would be required to facilitate this. As a member of the Energy Delivery team, this person will occasionally need to provide after hour consultation and emergency power restoration work, especially in storm situations.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

- You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills and a sound knowledge of current office procedures and possess proficient typing and computer utilization skills.
- You have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Experience with Oracle, SharePoint, Maximo, or other Project Management software considered an asset.
