Peters Excavating, Inc. is looking for an experienced and competent Working Jobsite Foreman to lead daily operations on jobsites in and around Sonoma, Marin, Mendocino & Solano counties. We are a Sebastopol-based General Engineering Contractor (Class A) specializing in site work, grading, paving and underground utilities for single- & multi-family homes, commercial properties, government facilities and housing complexes.
This role requires effective communication with team members, subcontractors, and clients while being well organized and prioritizing safety above all else. This is a hands-on position ideal for an experienced construction professional who can oversee crews, manage subcontractors, maintain schedules, and ensure quality control while also contributing to the physical work as needed. The right candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented leader who is committed to getting the job done right.
Duties:
•Able to safely demonstrate the proper skill and knowledge of operating Dozers, Excavators, Skip loaders, Compactors, Rollers and Track loaders.
•Assists with planning and implementation of weekly and daily schedule of activities
•Assures delivery of materials, equipment, and special tools
•Develops alternate work plan in cases of work delays Innovates improved methods of installation
•Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.
•Delegate general and daily responsibilities.
•Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
•Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.
•Supervise machinery & equipment.
•Resolve issues as they arise.
•Interfaces with suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors and inspections
•Assists with managing record keeping for the field, material receipt, change orders and progress reports
•Has complete knowledge of specifications and drawings for contract work scope
Qualifications:
•Proven experience as a Construction Foreman or in a similar supervisory role within the construction industry.
•Strong knowledge of construction management principles, practices, and safety regulations (OSHA).
•Basic Knowledge of stripping, demolition and excavation for all site work activities with experience in ALL aspects of underground utilities including trenching, shoring, wheel compacting, installing pipe, bedding and backfill are required.
•Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to interact with diverse teams.
•Ability to read plans and technical drawings accurately.
•OSHA-30, Trenching & Excavation Competent Person training required
•First Aid/CPR Certified & PG&E OQ Training is a plus!
Requirements:
•Clean and valid CA Drivers License with reliable transportation
•High school diploma or equivalent; further education in construction management or related fields is a plus.
•Ability to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
•Must be able to pass a Federal background check
