Horrocks is seeking a seasoned Risk Management and Compliance professional to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in assessing and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing and implementing effective governance frameworks.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
Insurance and Risk Management:
•Work with Horrocks’ brokers on issuing, modifying, and renewing insurance certificates for clients
•Monitor and enforce insurance compliance for subconsultants, evaluating variances and risk profiles
•Handle specialized requests for insurance certificates of different complexity
•Coordinate with the Parent company on policy management, renewals, risk disclosures, and overall risk mitigation strategies
•Monitor and manage the insurance inbox, ensuring timely responses and issue resolution
•Facilitate bond issuance and renewals by coordinating with brokers and internal stakeholders
•Insurance claims submission and management
Contracts:
•Review and manage contracts for projects (approx. 300 contracts a year) at different stages of review and negotiation, adhering to internal and Parent company policies and procedures
•Liaise with the Parent company on contract reviews, securing additional approvals, and escalating issues as necessary
•Revise and update Horrocks-drafted contracts on an as-needed basis, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards
•Develop, maintain, and improve Horrocks legal templates to ensure consistency and alignment with best practices
Compliance:
•Generate, analyze, and manage data reports using VantagePoint and Power BI to support compliance initiatives
•Managing project compliance, such as onboarding documentation, audit packets, reports, Avetta, client questionnaires
•Support on miscellaneous requests and projects of medium complexity
•Department of Transportation – assist with annual renewals, compliance, and coordination of annual financial audits
•Manage and oversee submissions of preliminary lien notices via the online lien servicing platform
•Assist with internal and external annual audits and special compliance projects
•Actively contribute to strengthening and enhancing the company’s compliance program through proactive monitoring, policy implementation, and risk assessment
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
•A bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Paralegal Studies, Risk Management, or a related field
•2-5 years of experience in Governance, Risk Management, and Corporate Compliance
•Paralegal certification or equivalent experience in contract management is a plus
•Experience in VantagePoint and Power BI is preferred
•Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, with strong Excel skills
•Background in accounting, financial analysis, or risk assessment is a plus
•Experience in the engineering, construction, or professional services industry is strongly preferred
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a capacity to evaluate complex risk and compliance challenges
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of collaborating effectively with stakeholders at all levels
