Mission
Our Development Team is looking for a Communication and Engagement Officer who will be supporting a team of project managers with engagement activities related to the development, permitting and construction of renewable energy projects (solar, wind and battery) in Canada.
The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and will report to the Communication, Engagement & Stakeholder Relations Manager, Canada.
The main tasks include, but are not limited to:
•Supporting a multi-disciplinary team of project managers, construction managers, and technical consultants in the delivery of engagement activities and events for project prospection, development, permitting, and construction.
•Planning, coordination and execution of engagement activities, including but not limited to neighbourhood canvassing, Rightsholder and stakeholder briefings, and 1-on-1 meetings with residents.
•Planning, logistical coordination, and execution of engagement events (i.e. open houses, public meetings, etc.), including but not limited to venue and equipment rentals, catering, printing, setup and tear down.
•Preparation of internal and external communications materials, including information boards, presentations, public notices, key messages, FAQs, and website copy.
•Maintaining digital assets, including updating website copy and imagery, uploading documents, reviewing digital feedback forms, and coordinating updates to infographics.
•Managing project e-mail inboxes, including reviewing, fielding, and responding to inquiries from members of the public, and supporting project management with communications to Rightsholders and stakeholders.
•Preparation of engagement plans, and participation in the development of Indigenous Participation Plans and Community Benefits Plans.
•Ensuring community engagement data is logged in Neoen’s stakeholder management system.
•Maintaining records of consultation to support Neoen’s permit applications.
•Maintaining external contact lists for each project.
•Performing daily media scans to identify relevant coverage.
•Other duties as assigned.
Profil
The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role :
•A Degree or diploma in public relations, public administration, political science, or a related field,
•Experience in a community engagement role, ideally in a development, renewable energy, or construction setting,
•Experience with Wordpress, Google Earth, and graphic design software,
•Experience with website management and AODA compliance,
•Excellent writing, copyediting, and public speaking skills,
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva,
•Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills,
•Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines,
•Must be comfortable engaging with the public and demonstrate poise in stressful situations,
•Flexibility to travel within Ontario and across Canada,
•A valid Class G driver’s license,
•Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings and remotely as needed,
•Strong motivation to work in a complex environment; you are organized, open-minded and able to work independently; you are capable of working on several projects in parallel,
