We are seeking a highly motivated Commercial Director to join our commercial and business development team. Our company develops, constructs, owns, and operates renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across the U.S. The successful candidate will play a central role in driving the commercial success of our RNG portfolio through financial structuring and modeling, and upstream and downstream customer development. This role requires a strong blend of financial acumen, market knowledge, and relationship management skills. This role is ideal for candidates with 3 - 6 years of investment banking or corporate finance experience who are eager to transition into a business development career with a principal actor in renewable energy. The successful candidate will support deal execution, financial modeling, and customer outreach while gaining exposure to strategic growth initiatives across our RNG portfolio.
o Build and maintain detailed project finance models for RNG development projects.
o Conduct valuation, sensitivity, return analyses to guide transaction structuring.
o Support investment decisions, debt/equity structuring, and return analysis.
o Manage build out of customer relationship management tool to identify and track leads, schedule regular outreach, and create actionable reports to keep the Company’s backlog strong.
o Assist in sourcing and evaluating new commercial opportunities.
o Prepare presentations and pitch materials for customers, partners, and investors.
o
Develop relationships with
downstream gas purchasers, utilities, and marketers to secure offtake contracts.
o Lead preparation of responses to RFPs from utilities, municipalities, and corporates.
o Coordinate internal technical, legal, and operations input to ensure competitive submissions.
o Contribute to structuring and negotiation of term sheets, commercial contracts, and joint development agreements.
o Coordinate with technical, legal, and operations teams during due diligence and transaction execution.
o Monitor RNG market dynamics, LCFS/RFS/ policy developments, investment and production tax credit markets, and competitive landscape.
o Provide commercial insights to leadership and support corporate strategy execution.
o Monitor market, policy, and regulatory developments affecting RNG economics.
o Prepare strategic analyses and materials for senior leadership to support portfolio growth.
- Education
: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, business, or related field (MBA a plus).
- Experience
: 3 – 6 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or consulting.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills (Excel, project finance structures, tax equity)
- Strong communication skills, with experience preparing high-impact pitch books and presentations.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel as required for customer and project site engagement.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
