CNC Machinist Night Shift

Job Description

CHP Energy Services is seeking an experienced Night Shift CNC Machinist to operate CNC lathes machining drill pipe connections, BHA components, and API connections. This role supports oilfield manufacturing operations and requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to run parts independently during night hours.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with API threading, understands oilfield tolerances, and can maintain production while meeting quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC lathes on night shift

- Machine API drill pipe connections, BHA components, and subs

- Verify and maintain correct API thread forms, tapers, and gauges

- Load and adjust tooling, offsets, and wear compensation

- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, and bore gauges

- Maintain surface finish, lead, and taper requirements per API standards

- Identify tooling or machine issues and report to supervision

- Complete production and inspection documentation

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

- Follow all shop safety and quality procedures

Requirements

- 1+ years CNC lathe experience (oilfield machining required)

- Proven experience running API connections

- Knowledge of drill pipe, BHA, and sub machining processes

- Ability to read blueprints, API specs, and job travelers

- Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, and tool wear

- Ability to hold tight tolerances and repeatability

- Dependable attendance and ability to work independently on night shift

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Doosan Puma 5100 / 5100L / 5100LC

- Familiarity with 4140, 4145, 4330, and high-strength alloy tubing

- Experience using API thread gauges and inspection equipment

- Mastercam experience a plus

- Prior oil & gas manufacturing background

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
