Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC lathes and ensuring the precision and quality of machined parts. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various hand tools and equipment. Applicants need to have an above average knowledge of machining on a CNC lathe, the ability to read, interpret, understand, and work from intricately detailed drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications, shop travelers and experience with close tolerance, and wide range of inspection equipment.
Team member Duties are to set up and operate CNC Lathes with Fanuc and Haas controls. The programming of the machine is provided. The team member’s job responsibilities are to set up the machine, produce a first article part that is in tolerance, document the measurement findings on company proven forms, then submit the part for a first article to the inspection team. Team members shall (during the run), check the parts for correct diameters, linear, radius and finish callouts, etcetera using company calibrated tools, and keep the parts in tolerance by changing inserts and offsets as needed to correct for out of tolerance conditions. A CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for running two machines in a work cell.
Team members document their activities by completing in-process inspection reports, work order travelers, job cards, and they perform basic maintenance on the machines, when necessary, IE clear chips out of the machine and add coolant as needed.
- Operate CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality components according to specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machining operations.
- Utilize calipers and other measuring tools to ensure precise dimensions of finished products.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assemble and fabricate components as required, adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety protocols.
- Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with CAM programming and machining processes is preferred.
- Experience with milling machines and press brake machines is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to read technical documents, such as blueprints or manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
