Chief Engineer

CHIEF ENGINEER

Immediate opening for a Licensed Professional Engineer with primary focus in structural engineering to be the Chief Engineer for Valley Joist + Deck at our plant/office in Fort Payne, Alabama. The Chief Engineer will oversee the engineering department and assist in completing all tasks related to the detailing, design, and manufacturing of steel joists, Joist Girders and steel deck. The job includes design of special joist configurations and details,bolted and welded connections, review and interpretation of structural and architectural drawings and specifications, and technical support to customers,architects, and engineers. The Chief Engineer will work with other department managers in developing and implementing strategies to meet Valley’s goals and objectives.

Valley Joist + Deck manufactures open web steel joists, Joist Girders, and structural steel deck for use in a variety of buildings including commercial buildings, industrial buildings, schools, churches, etc. Our plants are in Fort Payne, AL, and Fernley, NV. REQUIREMENTS

- B.S. Civil Engineering

- Structural emphasis with steel design coursework

- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)

- Working knowledge of AutoCAD

- Working knowledge of RISA 2D

- Working knowledge of MATLAB

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)

- Ability to work in a manufacturing & production setting

- Familiarity with building codes including IBC & ASCE 7

- Familiarity with steel specifications including AISC, SJI & SDI

- Remote work with frequent travel to plant/office will be considered for qualified candidates with relevant experience
