Position Overview:
The Water Treatment Chemical Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth by identifying new business opportunities, managing existing accounts, and providing technical solutions related to water treatment chemicals and services. This role combines consultative sales with technical expertise to help industrial, commercial, and municipal clients achieve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and cost savings through effective water treatment programs.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets within an assigned territory.
- Prospect, qualify, and acquire new customers in industries such as manufacturing, food & beverage, power generation, landfill, oil & gas, healthcare, and mining.
- Manage and grow existing accounts by building strong customer relationships and delivering high-quality service.
- Conduct site surveys, water analysis, and system audits to identify treatment needs and recommend tailored chemical programs.
- Present technical proposals, cost analyses, and value-added solutions to decision-makers.
- Collaborate with operations and technical service teams to ensure proper implementation of water treatment programs.
- Monitor system performance and chemical usage to ensure optimal results and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, reports, and account plans.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of sales experience in industrial chemicals, water treatment, or related field (preferred but not always required).- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to perform basic water testing and interpret results.
- Proven ability to develop new business and manage long-term customer relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Will require weekly travel throughout the designated territory by automobile or airplane including overnight stays.
