We currently have an exciting opportunity at our Pogo operation for an experienced and motivated Wastewater/Water Treatment Operator on an even time work schedule; three weeks on followed by three weeks off, on a rotating schedule of days and nights.

The Wastewater/Water Treatment Operator operates and maintains a Membrane Bioreactor Sewer Treatment Facility (MBR), two Potable Water Treatment Facilities, an Industrial Wastewater Treatment Facilities, and numerous sewer lift stations.
- The potable water treatment systems include operations and maintenance of multimedia and bag filters, ozone generation, chlorination, corrosion control reagent, ultraviolet disinfection, and a variety of pumps and compressors.
- The industrial WW systems include operation and maintenance of coagulation, oxidation, and pH stabilization reagents; reactor tanks; clarifiers; multimedia filters; microfilters; Hydraulic Filter Presses and a variety of pumps and compressors.
- The MBR / STP includes operation and maintenance of equipment including a biological system, blowers, low pressure membranes, a variety of pumps and compressors, a sludge press, ultraviolet disinfection, and performing microbiological lab testing.
- Monitoring, recording, analyzing, and making process adjustments from a variety of gauges and instruments including but not limited to: pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine residual, conductivity, temperature, pressure, level, flow, turbidity, and Total Suspended Solids (TSS).
- Operation of the Distributed Control System / Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition (DCS / SCADA), which controls, monitors, trends, and alarms parameters on most of the systems.
- Must be familiar with Pogo's Alaska Pollution Discharge Elimination System (APDES) Permit limits and all limits and conditions in the ADEC Certificate to Operate the potable facilities.
- Performs plumbing installation and repair of PVC, Polyethylene (PE) tubing, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), galvanized, steel, copper, and brass piping and fittings.
- Operates and maintains other equipment and performs other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?

- Must hold a current (or be eligible for) Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Wastewater Treatment 2 License.
- Must hold a current (or be eligible for) Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Water Treatment Provisional Certificate. (level 1 preferred).
- Experience operating extended aeration, sequential batch reactor sewage treatment plant, or MBR preferred.
- Other experience with multimedia filters, ozone, filters presses, corrosion control chemicals, UV disinfection, and sewage lift stations a plus.
- Waste water treatment experience highly desired.
- Should have critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.
- Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Outlook.
- Include skills (analytical, communication, leader)
- Working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Familiarity with EPA regulations concerning drinking water including: Long Term 1 and 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, Stage 2 Disinfection By-Product Rule, Lead and Copper Rule, Total Coliform Rule, and the Surface Water Treatment Rule.
- Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background checkWorking a three week on, three week off rotating schedule of days and nights, 12+ hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, internet & cable tv programs. Cell service is available when using Wi-Fi. The Company provides bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
