Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Cementer to join our abandonment operations team in California. The Cementer will be responsible for executing cementing jobs as part of well plug and abandonment (P&A) activities in compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with wellbore isolation, zonal plugging, and permanent well abandonment, with a strong understanding of California-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., CalGEM).
Key Responsibilities:
•Prepare and execute primary and secondary cementing operations for wellbore abandonment.
•Mix, pump, and monitor cement slurry volumes, rates, and pressures to ensure proper zonal isolation.
•Interpret cementing programs and well schematics to determine appropriate cementing techniques and materials.
•Maintain and operate cementing equipment, including pumps, mixers, bulk silos, and downhole tools.
•Collaborate with engineers, wireline crews, rig operators, and other service providers on-site to ensure effective execution of abandonment tasks.
•Ensure cementing operations meet or exceed state regulations and company standards for permanent well abandonment (CalGEM, EPA, etc.).
•Accurately document job data, slurry designs, cementing results, and volumes pumped.
•Monitor and report on environmental compliance and containment measures.
•Participate in job safety analysis (JSA), toolbox talks, and hazard assessments prior to all jobs.
•Travel to remote well sites across California; maintain a flexible schedule including extended hours and on-call availability.
Qualifications:
Required:
•Minimum 2–3 years of oilfield experience, with specific experience in cementing or P&A work.
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
•High school diploma or GED.
•Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
Preferred:
•Experience working on plug and abandonment projects under California regulations (CalGEM).
•Knowledge of Class H cement, additives, squeeze jobs, and multi-stage cementing operations.
•CDL with HAZMAT endorsement (preferred but not required).
•Basic understanding of well integrity, pressure control, and wellbore construction.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
•Climb, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
•Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
•Ability to pass drug screening and physical exams as per company policies.
Work Environment:
•Onshore field sites throughout California, including remote locations.
•Exposure to heavy equipment, pressurized systems, noise, dust, and weather elements.
•Must follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
