About This Job

At GFL Environmental, our Roll-Off Drivers are the face of our commercial business. This isn't just a driving job—it’s a specialized role for professionals who take pride in maneuvering heavy-duty equipment and delivering elite service to our industrial and construction partners. We offer stable local routes, a "Safety First" culture, and the chance to join the fastest-growing team in the industry. Ready to lead the way? Let’s go green.

Key Responsibilities:

- Elite Equipment Command: Expertly operate roll-off trucks and ancillary equipment to collect and transport waste with precision.

- Asset Stewardship: Own your truck. Perform rigorous daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections. We rely on you to identify and communicate any mechanical needs to the shop team immediately to keep your rig in peak condition.

- Strategic Routing: Work closely with your supervisor to sharpen route efficiencies. You aren't just following a map; you’re looking for ways to improve how we serve our customers.

- Safety Leadership: Navigate tight sites and high-traffic areas with a "Zero-Accident" mindset. Identify and report site hazards before performing a task to ensure the safety of yourself and the public.

- Brand Ambassador: Maintain a professional appearance and a "customer-first" demeanor. As a GFL driver, you are the primary point of contact for our clients on the road.

- Detailed Documentation: Maintain accurate digital and paper records of services performed, route sheets, and daily truck reports.

- Clean Cab Culture: Take pride in your workspace by maintaining a clean interior and exterior of your vehicle.

Requirements:

- License: Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.

- Safety Record: Must meet all company standards for safety-sensitive functions and demonstrate total control of the vehicle and equipment during a road test.

- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate various heavy-duty vehicles and understand hydraulic equipment systems.

- Problem Solvers: Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to solve field problems and navigate "on-the-fly" challenges.

- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting inspections, hazards, and daily paperwork.

- Mathematical Basics: Ability to perform basic calculations related to load weights and route timing.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

- Field Endurance: Ability to work outdoors 100% of the time, regardless of weather (heat, rain, or cold).

- Physical Agility: Must be able to climb, balance, kneel, and stoop to secure containers. Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.

- High-Focus Driving: Sitting is required up to 75% of the time. You must maintain intense focus in loud, high-traffic, and tight-clearance environments.

- Commitment: Must be available for overtime to ensure our customers are serviced on schedule.

We thank you for your interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
