We’re a locally owned and steadily growing residential and commercial painting company known for our professionalism, craftsmanship, and integrity. As our team and projects continue to grow, we’re looking for a hands-on Business Manager to bring structure and strategy to our financial and administrative operations.
This role blends accounting, financial management, and HR coordination—ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, small business environment where your work truly makes a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
•Manage all aspects of daily accounting, including AR, AP, GL, payroll entries, and reconciliations.
•Prepare accurate monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, job profitability, and cash flow reports).
•Partner with the owner to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial strategy.
•Oversee project/job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) tracking to ensure profitability.
•Lead month-end and year-end close and coordinate with external accountant on tax filings.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
•Ensure all vendor bills are entered and paid on time, managing cash flow planning with the owner.
•Invoice completed projects promptly and follow up on outstanding payments.
•Maintain up-to-date AR reports and payment records.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
•Post payroll into accounting system (Gusto) and track employee hours, deductions, PTO, and reimbursements.
•Administer employee health insurance, 401(k) contributions, and benefit updates.
•Maintain all employment tax records and ensure timely filing of quarterly reports (e.g., 941s).
Human Resources Oversight
•Oversee and support the HR Coordinator in recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding.
•Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
•Help manage performance review timelines and employee documentation.
•Coordinate employee benefits administration, including PTO, holidays, health insurance, and retirement plans.
Process Improvement & Admin Support
•Identify opportunities to streamline accounting, reporting, and administrative systems.
•Support internal audits, workers’ comp audits, and insurance renewals with accurate documentation.
•Collaborate with project managers and office staff to improve resource coordination and transparency.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
•5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or office management—preferably in construction or a project-based business.
•Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
•Solid understanding of financial statements, job costing, cash flow, and budgeting.
•Experience managing payroll and benefits systems (Gusto, 401k, etc.).
•Familiarity with human resource best practices and labor law compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with construction accounting, including WIP schedules and project billing.
•Smartsheet or project management software experience.
•Prior work in a fast-growing small business or trades-based company.
•Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a proactive approach to problem solving.
