Business Applications Analyst (Operations Technology)

We are looking for a

customer-focused

detail-oriented

professional to serve as the primary point of contact between operational end-users and technical teams, supporting and enhancing essential business applications that drive operational efficiency, system reliability, and emergency response.

In this role, you will be responsible for first-line end-user support and delivering expert guidance on key platforms such as Outage and Distribution Management, Dispatch, Field Work Management and Emergency Response Management tools that are critical to OUC’s operations. You’ll gather user requirements, create training and documentation, and collaborate with IT internal technology and vendor teams to implement enhancements and resolve issues. This role functions as both a translator and advocate, connecting front-line users with backend technical teams to deliver practical, well-communicated solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS) from an accredited college or university, other disciplinesconsidered.Inlieuof adegree,equivalentcombinationofeducation,certifications and experience may be substitutable.
Minimumoffive(5)yearsoffunctionalsupportexperienceincludingbutnotlimitedtoexperience providing analysis and support of: business operations utilizing advanced business applications.
Workingknowledgeinoneormore oftheseapplications (preferred)

Please see below a complete Job description for this position. Job Purpose:

Responsible for providing experienced product knowledge and product understanding for OpenGrid suite of products, future Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and E1 SMART module.The Business Application Analyst serves as a resource for applications requiring structured system methodologies and information technology.Provides first line resolution/analysis assistance for responsibilities of system health, maintenance, and continuous improvements of corporate applications.Provides regular product support, maintenance, configuration changes and patch updates along with project enhancements that align with the corporate strategies of OUC.Works with business representatives to deliver completely implemented solutions to end user community by leveraging best practices of the core applications.Responsible for developing programmatic solutions, testing solutions for accuracy with defined test plan, coordinate the implementation and completion of recommended specifications for all new systems, system changes, and problem corrections.Works with internal IT and vendor representatives to deliver completely implemented solutions to end-user community by leveraging best practices of the core applications.

Primary Functions:

Provide intermediate level expertise in assigned core business unit function including but not limited to:defectresolution,processimprovement,datamining/gathering/qualityassessment,reporting,data visualization, etc.;
Consultwithmanagementintheareaofassignmentastheprimarypointof contacttocoordinateand communicate status, functional requirements, project priorities, operational impacts;
Serve as a key technical resources and point of contact for core business capability and product managementtoensuresynergiesthroughoutallITareasincludingITSupport,BusinessIntegration, Tech Services (server, network, database, etc.);
Collaborateinmanagingprojects;assign,direct,trainandinspectwork;coordinateprojectactivity, develop plans, and manage deliverables;
ProvideapplicationanalysisforInformationTechnologyandclient base;
Investigateandanalyze howthesystemprocessedtransactionstodeterminesystemfunctionalityis configured correctly and providing accurate results;
Serveasacontactforend-usersneedingfunctionalsupportandbusinessprocess interpretation;
Interfacewithfunctionaluserstodefineanddocumentfunctionalrequirementsforapplication software and reporting needs;
Developandmaintainrelationshipswithkeyusersineachareatostaycurrent withhowtheyusethe various systems within OUC and offer support and leadership to each area using core applications;
Defineanddocumentsystemscope,currentlogicalview,generalrequirementsandproposedlogical view using structured design and analysis techniques;
Identifyopportunitiesforimprovementwithinthesystem,includingmakingrecommendationsonhow users can best utilize the product to accomplish their functional objectives; research and utilize new features of product (application);
Identifyopportunitiesforbusinessunitworkflowandbusinessprocessimprovementsand make recommendations for such to management as needed; work with business units to deliver completely implemented solutions to end user community by leveraging best practices of the core applications;
Workonmoderatetocomplexbusinessscenariostoensuresystemprocessestransactions accurately;
Evaluatebusinessimpactoferrorsandproviderecommendationsforsolutionthroughcollaboration with business experts and developers;
Evaluateexisting andnewsystemfunctionalityanddetermineanyrequirementsnotmetbythe specific system and develop action plan to correct deficiencies;
GuideandparticipatewiththeProgrammerAnalystsinunderstandingbusinessneedsandassist translation for detailed program specifications;
Developandmaintaindocumentationregardingsystem functionality:

+ Documentallissuesandtheir resolution; + Reviewexistingproceduresandidentifythosethatwill change; + Recommendanynewproceduresthatmustbeinstitutedasaresultofthe system; + Developtrainingmaterialandconductusertrainingrelatedtocurrentandnew systems;

Develop,researchandevaluatefeasibilityofalternativestomeetproject/solutionobjectivesand recommends optimal alternative;
Developdocumentationfornewsystemfunctionsand/orupdatestoexistingsystem documentation;
Collaboratewithtechnicalteamstoidentifysolutionsandleaddesignsessionswithfunctionalusers and developers to define and document interface requirements;
Designandexecutetestplansforintegrationanduseracceptancetests; performfollow-upvalidation of corrected deliverables with the user community;
Participateontechnologyservicesandvendorapplicationupgrades,patching,testing,aswellas production implementations;
Followtriage,SoftwareDevelopmentLifeCycle(SDLC),changemanagement,andotherIT processes in place to promote new/revised objects to all environments;
WorkwiththeITSupportCenter,ProgrammerAnalysts,SystemAdministratorsandsoftware vendors to support and resolve software problems;
Analyze,diagnoseandtroubleshootsystemissuestoidentifyroot-causeandimplementsolutionsto minimize or prevent occurrences;
Contactsoftwarevendorstoreport,track,andresolveproblemswiththeirsoftware products;
Workonsmall,medium,andlargescaleprojectsasneededbyOUC;leadsmallormedium projects
Handlescheduledon-callrotationresponsibilities;andrequiredshiftworkwhenneeded including during hurricane season;
Performotherdutiesas assigned.
