This position supports Calpine Energy Solutions’ Information Technology department. The Business Analyst Lead is responsible for overseeing and guiding the analysis of business processes, requirements, and systems to ensure alignment with organizational and departmental goals. The individual will provide mentorship and direction while coordinating with stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize business needs. Their role includes developing detailed business requirements, facilitating solution design, and ensuring that proposed changes are both practical and cost-effective. This is a working Business Analyst Lead position and as such the expectation is to lead a small team as well as continue to personally take on Business Analysis duties when assigned.
Job Responsibilities
The person in this role will lead a small group of business analysts responsible Analysis, Requirements writing, testing, UAT creation & coordination, and user support of assigned projects. Activities include:
•Plan, organize, and manage the functions of this team.
•Develop and mentor analyst staff and playing a key role in scheduling the effective utilization of staff resources based on priorities.
•Work closely with business users to identify business needs and develop solutions.
•Actively participate in the analysis and design of technology solutions with the Development team to meet the business need(s).
•Responsible for continually documenting and enhancing the procedures and processes followed in completing the activities of the team.
•Acts as liaison between the business users and the development teams.
•Applies expert knowledge of Calpine Energy Solutions’ technology and business processes to solve complex business problems.
•Leads and mentors a small but growing team of junior and senior business analysts to ensure protocols and standards of excellence.
Supervision of Direct Reports
Provides oversight of individual contributor employees, contractors and third-party consultants, using advanced business analysis expertise to 1) Mentor junior employees and ensure their growth and 2) Ensuring third party consulting partner resources are appropriately utilized and produce the quality and timeliness of work expected 3.) Manage multiple meetings, projects, or project teams, and 4) Providing concise and honest feedback regarding team performance to management.
Job Requirements
•Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in information systems, computer science, engineering, business or equivalent experience.
•Experience with and Subject Matter Expertise in line of business preferred
•At least 8 years of relevant experience and/or proficiency in performing related functions.
•Previous experience in the Retail Energy industry is highly preferred
•Experience with third party consultants and vendor management a plus
•Previous team leadership experience is a plus
•Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Extensive knowledge of Business Analysis methodologies, techniques, and function.
•Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to learn independently.
•Must possess initiative, advanced decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.
•Must be able to handle multiple requests at the same time and be able to prioritize another resource(s) workload.
•Mature, experienced, innovative, and professional.
•Strong technical knowledge of Excel
•Ability to function as a working supervisor for team or work group
•Ability to perform day-to-day leadership duties while performing escalated or complex duties
•Ability to report issues, findings, and progress concisely to management
•Ability to assess priorities and make recommendations to management regarding schedules, requirements, client needs, and tactics for current and future projects, or related applications.
•Ability to communicate and advise the business clients on process and best practices.
•Identifies and takes ownership for developing ideas for technical or business improvement initiatives that impact department/division.
•Must be able to assess priorities and make difficult decisions related to schedule, plans, design, and tactics for current and future business processes, systems, or related applications.
•Takes initiative to learn and teach complex business processes without being instructed to do so.
•Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
Salary Information - Position eligible for annual bonus.
Salary range $102,603 - $151,338
