The NPI Group is seeking a dependable and technically skilled Building Operator to support facility operations at the Cenovus Christina Lake site. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, camp experience, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
The position follows an 8‑days‑on, 6‑days‑off rotation with a total of 84 working hours per week. The role is based on the Cenovus Christina Lake (CL) site, with travel and accommodation provided for scheduled shifts. Free parking is available at the Sunwest hubs in both Edmonton and Calgary.
- Perform daily building operations, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
- Support and troubleshoot HVAC systems, sprinkler systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Respond to work orders and ensure safe, timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain accurate digital logs, reports, and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with site teams, contractors, and NPI Cenovus leadership.
- Follow all safety protocols and site procedures and complete daily FLHA’s.
- Experience in a remote, industrial, facilities, or trade‑related environment is an asset, but not mandatory.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use digital work order and maintenance systems.
- Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technical skills as needed.
- Ability to work an 8/6 rotation with extended shifts (84 hours per week).
- Valid WHMIS, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry, Aerial Work Platform (AWP), Fall Arrest, and CSTS certifications.
- Reliable truck that are less than 10 years old and suitable for site use.
- Background in HVAC, sprinkler systems, building controls, or BMS systems.
- 5th or 4th Class Power Engineering certification.
- Experience in mechanical trades, building operations, or related technical fields.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and clear communication skills.
- Additional trade experience (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, Sprinkler tech) is considered a strong advantage.

- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license
