Job Description
Boone REMC is looking for a Bookkeeper.
The Bookkeeper performs a variety of accounting and clerical functions related to accounts payable. This position will share responsibility for accounts payables and receivables to support the daily accounting activities of the Cooperative, month-end processes, year-end audit processes and various special projects; general ledger transactions and reports, balancing, reconciliations; cash receipts and disbursements.
Bookkeeping Functions
•Receives, processes, codes, and verifies invoices.
•Creates, tracks and records purchase orders.
•Manages accounts payable email daily.
•Facilitates reconciliation of capital credit refunds and reissues.
•Processes invoices and payments weekly.
•Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
•Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
•Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
•Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
•Assists with the completion of daily bank reconciliation.
•Assists with the completion of month-end closing processes.
•Assists with the completion of year-end audit processes.
•Calculates and reports sales and use tax based on paid invoices.
•Assists with various special accounting projects.
The successful candidate will report to the VP of Corporate Services/CFO. Other items may be assigned according to business needs and directives.

Qualifications
•High school diploma, or equivalent, required; a minimum of an associate’s degree is preferred.
•Two years’ experience in bookkeeping or financial records.
•Demonstrates high levels of integrity and accountability.
•Ability to expertly organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
•Ability to apply arithmetic concepts such as fractions, ratios and proportions to real scenarios.
•Demonstrates a proficiency in common office applications and equipment, and accounting software systems, including Microsoft applications.
•Ability to follow procedures and processes established by legal counsel and governmental guidelines.
