Billing Specialist (Sales Tax Experience Required)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Billing Specialist with strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance. This role is responsible for preparing accurate customer invoices, applying appropriate sales tax rates, maintaining exemption documentation, and ensuring compliance with multi-state tax requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and experienced in resolving billing discrepancies efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review, and issue accurate customer invoices in a timely manner

- Ensure correct sales tax application based on product/service type and jurisdiction

- Maintain and validate sales tax exemption certificates

- Assist with multi-state sales tax reporting and documentation

- Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve customer inquiries

- Support month-end and year-end closing activities

- Generate billing reports for management review

- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy

- Stay current with changes in sales tax laws and regulations

Qualifications

- 2+ years of billing or accounts receivable experience

- Working knowledge of sales tax regulations (multi-state experience preferred)

- Experience managing tax exemption certificates

- Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Excellent organizational and communication skills

- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with sales tax automation software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex)

- Experience in manufacturing

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
