The City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is seeking a self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment responsible for performing entry level and/or routine duties of the customer service unit to English and Spanish speaking customers such as serving as the first line of customer support, providing information, and addressing complaints and customer requests.
The ideal candidate will have graduated from high school, or the equivalent, 1 year of recent customer service work involving public contact in person or over the telephone, speak fluent Spanish, and type at least 30 wpm.
Incumbents will receive $1.00 per hour added to their base hourly rate.

Education:
Graduation from high school or GED/Equivalent
And
Experience:
One year of recent customer service work involving public contact in person or over the telephone. Typing at 30 wpm is required.
Successful completion of the Spanish bilingual test administered by Water Department Human Resources is required.
Depending on assignment, possession of a valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License may be required. For out of state applicants, a valid Driver’s License is required, and a valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (CA Vehicle Code 12505c).
Work involves exposure to potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease. There is frequent need to stand, sit, stoop, walk, and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in an office setting and operate office equipment, transport materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds, and to travel to various locations. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction with vision sufficient to read small print, computer screens and other printed documents.
