Benefits and Leave Specialistto provide general functional support to leadership and internal stakeholders regarding benefits administration and the leave management program.
The Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for overseeing leave requests and accommodations that require special focus towards state, local, and federal regulations. Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and has a firm understanding of Human Resources’ best practices and principles while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Additionally, the Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits in conjunction with carriers and brokerage firms.
- Leave Management:
Develop and maintain Mustang’s leave management program, including, but not limited to, regulatory guideline applications (FMLA and ADA), time tracking, the return-to-work process, document review, designation, and approvals.
- Compliance:
Ensure that employment and working conditions adhere to legal compliance with local, state, and federal regulations where applicable.
- Benefits:
Administer areas of the benefit program, including benefit claim issues and plan changes, quality checks on benefit data, processing qualifying events, and open enrollment.
- Employee Records
- Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements.
- Development-
Implement and create employee training programs that foster leadership development, positively impact company culture and support all departments.
- Job Postings:
Approves job requisitions through HRIS platform and manages job descriptions alongside leadership to ensure compliance and consistency among the organization.
- Recruitment:
Proactively engage external candidates for application submission with a variety of techniques.
- Performance Management:
Assist in leadership in the Performance Management process.
- Personnel Changes:
Process personnel changes including, but not limited to, changes in pay, job titles, offboarding, and reporting changes.
- Onboarding
: Conduct weekly employee onboarding and ensure that all new hire paperwork including pre-employment screenings are complete and uploaded into an electronic personnel file.
- Candidate Selection Process:
Manage the recruitment lifecycle process from application through onboarding. Schedule interviews as needed and attend interviews alongside leadership and hiring managers. Create and complete all job offers for internal and external employees.
- Development-
Implement and create employee training programs that foster leadership development, positively impact company culture and support all departments.

: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field.
- Preferred
: A master’s degree in human resources, business or related field. Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
- Required: Minimum of 2 years in Human Resources, business, or related field.
- Office Setting:
Primarily work in an office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and printers.
- Community Events:
Attendance at community events, which may be held outdoors or at various locations throughout the area, necessitating adaptability to different environments and conditions.
- Travel:
Travel may be required for professional development opportunities or local community engagement activities.
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
- Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
