Automation Engineer – Contract to Hire
Location: Arizona | On-site, collaborative work environment
Employment Type: Contract to Hire (conversion expected in ~6 months)
Start Date: Targeting Mid-June (Urgent Hire)
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on and experienced Automation Engineer to join our growing Arizona-based team focused on building high-tech automation solutions for the automotive and manufacturing industries. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for permanent hire and full benefits upon conversion.
You’ll be responsible for programming FANUC robots, developing PLC systems, and leading mechanical design from concept to build. The role requires working on-site 5 days a week with flexibility for personal needs and occasional travel to California for project support.
Responsibilities
•Program FANUC industrial robots (reward programming experience preferred)
•Develop and maintain Allen-Bradley PLC logic and controls (other PLCs accepted)
•Design automation systems using SolidWorks (concept through FEA and GD&T)
•Build and deploy industrial cells for the automotive and manufacturing sector
•Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and integration teams
•Travel approximately 25% to customer sites (primarily between Arizona and California)
•Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders and customers
•Work independently and within an agile, team-oriented environment
Requirements
•4+ years of experience in automation engineering or related field
•Expertise in FANUC robot programming (certifications highly preferred)
•Strong background in Allen-Bradley PLC programming
•Proficient with SolidWorks for mechanical design
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
•Self-motivated, organized, and solution-oriented
•Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills
•Experience with electronics (circuit design or customer-facing technical discussions)
•Pneumatics design or integration experience
•Background working with automation integrators such as JR Automation, Eclipse Automation, Kamau, or KUKA
