Under the limited direction of the Section Head, will provide activities related to the contract administration and contract management
of small to complex electrical and overhead construction projects from the tendering stage to overall close out and the development
of section processes for project monitoring.
Responsibilities:
•Lead development of overall project construction plans including resource requirements, estimating, procurement strategies
and risk assessment.
•In consultations with stakeholders, assist in the preparation of project work packages including scope, schedule, and cost
estimates.
•Lead the preparation of RFx construction specifications, acting as technical contact for clarifications, and preparation of
addendums as required.
•Lead coordination with internal Supply Chain Management and Law Departments to prepare, tender, negotiate, and award
contracts.
•Lead coordination activities, supervision, directing and monitoring successful contractors with the planned construction work
packages and report on the status of assigned projects.
•Lead, assist or direct & review analysis and review of contract claims, preparation and approval of change orders.
•Provide technical and administrative guidance and advice to internal supervisory/technical/inspection staff as required to
support electrical/overhead construction, construction management, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration
activities.
•Work at or travel to project sites to review construction progress, investigate specific problems, and administer construction
contracts.
•Arrange, schedule and conduct of meetings with groups within Manitoba Hydro and with outside contractors to ensure all
share a common understanding of the requirements of assigned project.
•Provide construction input into studies, environmental planning, schedules, and cost estimates for overall planning and
evaluation of future projects.
•Assist and in the absence of the section head, lead in the development and implementation of section processes for contract
monitoring.
•Ensure compliance with government and Manitoba Hydro regulations including workplace safety and environmental rules and
regulations.
•Keep abreast of latest developments in areas such as construction methods and environmental management as they relate to
the fields of power systems and electrical construction.
•Supervise staff in construction project, planning and scheduling, specification preparation, cost estimating, material
procurement and control.

Qualifications:
•Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with seven years of related experience.
•Additional training in project management practices would be considered an asset.
•Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Hydro policy P513.
•Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.
•Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time).
•Demonstrated project management experience associated with initiating and coordinating projects.
•Willing to work extended periods of time in remote locations in Manitoba.
•Demonstrated high degree of initiative and ability to interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the
Corporation.
•Capable of applying engineering principles in dealing with involved and adverse technical problems.
•Good computer skills including experience with scheduling software, collaborative file sharing software, SharePoint and
Microsoft Office suite software.
•May be required to assist with contract administration and construction management in a field office for periods of time
anywhere in Manitoba.
•Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
