- Provide support during equipment installations and upgrades including:
- Spec’ing appropriate equipment
- Physically setting up and maintaining electronics, instruments, automation, and measurement equipment
- Ensure vendors and contractors are meeting our needs and expectations
- Keep equipment operational, and ensures service quality, by:
- Complete preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer's or company instructions.
- Troubleshoot all electronic and data acquisition equipment, computers and PLCs. Adjust, repairing or replacing faulty components. Calling for repairs when required, and approved.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose problems and repair plant mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints and engineering sketches.) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop).
- Identify and correct errors in programming and wiring.
- Identify and recommend changes to improve rig performance utilizing existing or new control systems.
- Make program modifications in PLC’s logic, HMI’s programs and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance.
- Respond quickly and aggressively to down time.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Document actions by completing appropriate production and quality forms, in a timely manner.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, communicating with multiple departments.
- Routinely perform safety observations and attend technical, developmental and safety trainings.
- Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits or certifications as required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent education with two (2) years of specialized technical training and/or five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, Servos, Ethernet and communication systems related to drilling rig automation.
- Proficient in understanding and ability to troubleshoot root cause, configure, and replace non-similar controls hardware, such as input/output modules, human machine interfaces (HMIs), safety relays, and other industrial controls.
- Advanced electrical knowledge and understanding of electrical safety, and national electrical codes
- Travel required for training and to regularly conduct business with and meet with vendors/suppliers.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Keep this the same for every posting)
- Ability to be on-call and respond to calls twenty-four/seven (24/7) for emergency response.
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
