Overview
We seek a passionate and skilled Automation Controls Specialist (ACS) to join our dynamic team. In this essential full-time non-exempt position, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our advanced control systems and instrumentation. You will primarily work at our three treatment plants as well as our various remote sites throughout the Elgin, Illinois area.
- Proven experience as an Automation Control Specialist or a similar job title/description (equivalent combination of
- education and experience will be considered).
- Provides daily support to operation and maintenance personnel in resolving high priority control issues.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on instrumentation, control devices, PLC’s, and meters.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI programming, Ethernet network configuration, PID loop tuning, and motor and drive configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge in Hart Protocol, 4-20 mA analog signals, and other low voltage signals preferred.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and drawings (experience with AutoCAD preferred).
- Calibrate and troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and other process control instruments.
- Assist with modifications and adjustments to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
- (FactoryTalk experience preferred).
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of new control systems and instrumentation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications during installation processes.
- Performs work in control panels, MCCs, and switchgear where voltages up to 480VAC are present and follows all arc flash safety standards.
- An associate’s degree in Automation, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field is preferred; a bachelor’s degree is a plus (equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, and we are willing to train the right candidate in areas where they have less experience).
