Automation, Controls, & Field Technician

Summary:

This is a full-time position that is responsible for the efficient, safe, and reliable operating condition of the control and electrical systems, on the companies drilling rigs. The position is responsible for performing all aspects of mechanical maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repairing of: electrical equipment and systems, automated equipment, and control systems; including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC Systems (Siemens and Allen Bradley).

Responsibilities:

+ Spec’ing appropriate equipment + Physically setting up and maintaining electronics, instruments, automation, and measurement equipment + Ensuring vendors and contractors are meeting our needs and expectations + Completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer's or company instructions. + Troubleshooting all electronic and data acquisition equipment, computers and PLCs. Adjust, repairing or replacing faulty components. Calling for repairs when required, and approved. + Troubleshooting, diagnosing problems and repairing plant mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints and engineering sketches.) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop). + Identifying and correcting errors in programming and wiring. + Identifying and recommending changes to improve rig performance utilizing existing or new control systems; + Making program modifications in PLC’s logic, HMI’s programs and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance. + Responding quickly and aggressively to down time.
