Job Summary
The Associate Geoscientist will provide geological and geophysical support for all exploration in the Gulf of America. The Geoscientist should have experience in working at multiple scales of investigation and collaborate closely with the team to effectively assess regional geologic trends, exploration prospects and near field opportunities. The Geoscientist will work closely with other disciplines to mature opportunities and communicate plans effectively to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner. This is an early career position in the Gulf of America Exploration team and will be mentored by the senior members of the team.
The Associate Geoscientist – will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
- Provide geological, geophysical and petrophysical interpretations involving tasks that support Exploration and Exploitation in the Gulf of America
- Preparing prospects for drilling
- Liaise with drilling team
- Assist team in generating management presentations
- Performs other related projects/ duties as assigned
- Master’s degree in Geology and/or Geophysics
- Minimum one year oil and gas industry experience
- Experience in both geologic and geophysical techniques applied to exploration workflows
- Ability to multi-task on multiple projects
- Prior GoA experience
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative geophysics with a basic understanding of AVO application is preferred
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
