Associate Engineer applies associate level engineering principles to the design/development of electric distribution facilities, traffic signals and streetlights. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Examine/correct/prepare and approve calculations, designs and construction drawings for routine additions/alterations to the electric distribution system. Coordinate departmental work with Division areas/
departments, consulting engineers, architects, contractors, governmental agencies, etc. Make field trips to study construction practices/types; make recommendations for improvements; authorize field changes to construction drawings as required.
Gather information from survey notes, maps, instructions, etc.; provide engineering designs for various projects as assigned. Investigate customer property damage/voltage complaints and inform customers of findings. Assist in development of standards, new layout methods and construction information manuals. Prepare contracts by performing such tasks as providing design drawings and lists of types/quantities of materials required. Prepare data for computerized engineering studies, provide information and designs for
various projects as assigned. Stay abreast of various rules, codes and governmental regulations concerning distribution engineering. Perform other duties as directed
A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.
Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is required.
Experience with power distribution equipment and load flow calculations, forecasting techniques and familiarity with industrial power systems, equipment/
controls is required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must successfully complete Customer Contact Test (Area 510360). Must have an occupationally significant combination of: organizational ability; oral/written communication skills; ability to apply associate level engineering principles/methods in the design/development of electric system facilities; and facility with mathematics involved in performing engineering calculation. Physical Demands: Work inside and outside under good conditions. Subject to hazards of working in proximity of construction work and traffic. Requires medium lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
