An Assistant Superintendent’s primary responsibility for Oline Construction is to be a point of contact in the field, working in concert with the General Superintendent and Project Manager. This role will schedule, plan and direct all field operations to include management of all work by the company’s own forces and that of the subcontractors. Ideal candidates will have experience in, and feel comfortable having full responsibility of initiating and implementing all pertinent safety and quality control policies and procedures. Oline Construction is a GC for multi-million dollar commercial construction builds in the DFW area, both for multi-family and mixed-used developments, and this position requires experience supervising complex & large volume projects. Additional responsibilities include: review of subcontractor scopes, participation in buyout, adherence to budget and to ensure the construction process and building are completed to the client’s full satisfaction and at the company’s levels of profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Must be well-versed in reading and understanding blueprints and technical documents.
•Enforces work safety rules. Holds weekly safety meetings with all workers on the project.
•Manage direct labor crews and contract labor. Ensure all crews have cost-coded and submitted time sheets weekly. Review labor hours with the General Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
•Detailed Daily Reports are required. The more detailed, the better.
•Attend meetings as assigned by the General Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
•Coordinate, schedule, and oversee deliveries of all materials, supplies, and tools, including subcontractors.
•Be a team leader, lead by example, be respectful but firm, and hold yourself and others accountable.
•Be proactive by planning ahead, anticipating obstacles, and knowing your job site, drawings, schedule, and trades. Produce schedules and monitor crew attendance, including subcontractor crews.
•Perform job walks multiple times daily. Look for safety concerns and inspect construction work to enforce conformity to specifications and quality control.
•Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while on the job sites or acting on the company's behalf.
Qualifications:
•5+ years as a. Assistant Superintendent or Similar Role
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, similar degree or relevant work experience preferred
•In-depth knowledge of construction and engineering principles, practices, and project management methodologies.
•Strong Leadership and team management skills.
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
•Proven jobsite knowledge and performance
•Proficient in project management software tools.
•Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
•Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
