POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon Petroleum Company's Dickinson Renewable Diesel Facility is currently seeking an Operations Superintendent. The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of their assigned process units. They will foster a culture of ownership within the operations team, set clear expectations, and be accountable for the operational performance of their assigned units. The Operations Superintendent is also responsible for ensuring that these units execute the production plan in a safe, compliant, reliable, and profitable manner. This role reports to the Area Team Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Establishes and maintains culture of safety and environmental excellence by modeling appropriate behaviors and ensuring all employees conduct work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
•Directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of personnel engaged in operating and maintaining loading racks, meters, additive systems, vapor control systems, buildings, and terminal grounds maintenance.
•Responsible for the day-to-day safe and efficient scheduling of product receipts, personnel schedules to manage the product receipts and product inventory.
•Maintains safe working conditions throughout the terminal. Promotes safety and environmental consciousness among employees.
•Compiles and maintains necessary records and reports
•Maintains working relationships with third-party drivers, Product Supply personnel, customers, and Marketing personnel.
•Drives compliance with process safety management (PSM) requirements, including, but not limited to, Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs), Management of Change (MOC), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs), ensuring good practices are followed and participating as appropriate.
•Troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of a truck loading rack and other facility equipment.
•Supervises and communicates day-to-day operations of assigned process units to optimize production.
•Leads development, communication, and execution of action plans with support from the area team in response to unit upsets, unplanned shutdowns, etc.
•Proactively identifies risks to process and equipment reliability and leads resolution/management of risks as appropriate.
•Manages unit performance and equipment availability and clearly communicates constraints to support implementation of production plan.
•Achieves unit reliability and production goals through support and coordination with maintenance, capital projects and turnaround activities.
•Supports culture of high performance and continuous improvement through training, coaching, and mentoring.
•Ensures adequate operator crew job coverage within assigned area and collaborates with Shift Supervisor, Ops Excellence Specialists, and Training Specialists to ensure appropriate progression of operator training.
•Ensures personnel issues are addressed and resolved in a consistent and timely manner.
•Leads various special projects at the direction of the Area Team Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
•Must have a High School Diploma or GED and five years of operations experience in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical facility. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
•Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
•Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
•Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
•The available schedules for the position are 9/80 or 5/40 , after hours calls are required and support of TAR when applicable.
•A valid driver’s license is required. (MPC determines valid status.)
Preferred Qualifications
•4-10 Years of experience in Terminal Operations or Oil and Gas industry.
•Prior Leadership and Supervisor experience is preferred.
•Prior operator, Shift Foreman and Day Foreman experience is preferred.
